The Amazing Spider-Man originally released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U, with digital copies still being available on the Steam store. Gamers looking to get their web-slinging fix on current-gen consoles will now have to track down a physical copy, or wait for Insomniac’s upcoming PS4-exclusive take on the friendly neighborhood superhero.
The video game versions of the 20 films, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 are now, with one strange exception, no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or the Wii U e-Shop, despite the games originally releasing on each of those platforms. The latest culprit? Activision’s The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel. As digital gaming stores start to show their age, a newfound tradition for the beginning of each new year has been determining which games have had their licenses expire and, as a result, are no longer available to purchase.
